WASHINGTON – October 24, 2014. Gorman Health Group, LLC (GHG), the leading consulting firm and solutions provider in government health care programs, announced its further expansion into Medicaid, and the promotion of one of the nation’s leading Medicaid experts, Heidi Arndt, to lead the division.

As Senior Vice President of Medicaid, Heidi and her team will continue to expand their work with clients to achieve strategic, operational and quality goals. With this focus on Medicaid, GHG will be able to help managed care organizations, as well as states with developing models of care that assist with healthy behavior change, community partnerships, effective utilization management and staffing models, to maximize member engagement. Over the last several years, GHG has dedicated its time to understanding the needs of the dual population, allowing for the building of systems and processes that yield quality outcomes. As states begin to increase oversight activities and implement more robust compliance and fraud waste and abuse practices, GHG’s expertise in compliance program development will also be an asset to any organization.

“Medicaid is already the largest payer on the planet, and continues to grow rapidly thanks to the Affordable Care Act,” explained John Gorman, Executive Chairman of GHG. We are committed to ensuring our team continues to support the Medicaid coordinated care industry with the very best and brightest talent and solutions to implement accountable care. We’re bringing the same results we’re known for in Medicare to insurers serving moms and kids, the disabled, and the frail elderly. And we are thrilled Heidi’s steady and experienced hands are on the wheel.”

During her quarter-century of health care experience, Heidi worked for Aetna as the National Medicare Compliance Officer, and as the Chief Operating Officer of one of their Medicaid plans. She spent eight years working for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), during which time she held various executive positions in both programs in the agency’s Central Office, as well as the Regional Office in San Francisco.  Some of her specific responsibilities included oversight of long-term care enforcement, Medicaid state relations and program development for dual eligibles, as well as oversight of Medicare Advantage (MA) plan deeming and appeals. Further, Heidi served as Medicaid Bureau Chief in the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office, where she focused on Medicaid reform efforts and quality improvement. She also served as the Vice President of Medicaid Business Development at Coventry Health Care’s corporate office, and directed operations for one of their Medicaid plans.

“Health plans and their partners are uniquely positioned to deliver a dramatically improved health care experience, and better outcomes to underserved Medicaid beneficiaries,” explained Heidi Arndt. “I appreciate and am excited about the opportunity to share the best practices our team has gathered throughout our combined hundreds of years of experience as Medicaid providers, insurance executives and policy developers.”
