Alton Knight is a Senior Consultant at Gorman Health Group (GHG). Alton brings GHG clients more than 30 years of experience in healthcare auditing and compliance with an emphasis on provider reimbursement, compliance program development, and risk assessment. Alton has extensive knowledge of Medicare Parts C and D program audits and plan sponsor and payor healthcare operations, including areas such as revenue cycle and enterprise risk management.
Prior to joining GHG, Alton was a senior manager with Myers and Stauffer, which specializes in healthcare regulatory consulting. Alton has also held leadership positions with a number of healthcare organizations including MedStar Health, Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, Aetna, Philadelphia Child Guidance Center, and Independence Blue Cross. Alton has developed and implemented risk assessment and compliance programs, worked with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to improve financial and operational results, and has provided audit and compliance expertise and due diligence during several mergers and acquisition projects.
Alton earned his Masters of Science in Strategic Management and an MBA in Finance, both from Temple University in Philadelphia, as well as a BS degree in Commerce and Engineering Sciences from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Alton is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Healthcare Compliance and has earned the Certification in Risk Management Assurance designation from the Institute of Internal Auditors. Alton is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the co-author of “Auditing and Compliance: The Conscience of an Enterprise,” which was published in Governance for Health Care Providers: The Call to Leadership, CRC Press, 2009: Chapter 8.
